Afanoso ist einer der wenigen Hengste außerhalb Spaniens mit einem Calificado- und einem JRR-Morphologie-Prädikat. In Spanien nahm Afanoso an Morphologie-Wettbewerben teil, wo er 2012 in Zafra die Goldmedaille für seine Gesamtpunktzahl und eine Goldmedaille für die Funktionalität in Abschnitt 8 gewann. Aber Afanoso hat mehr zu bieten als nur Papiere oder Prädikate, er ist auch sehr lieb und hat eine großartige Arbeitsmoral. 

In den Wettbewerben zeigt er 3 gute Grundgangarten und einen angenehmen Charakter. Er ist zudem ein sehr sicheres Pferd, um draußen im Gelände zu reiten.
