Joe is a 12-year-old AQHA Buckskin gelding standing 15.1 hands tall. Friendly, personable, and eager to bond with his rider, Joe is a trustworthy partner that riders of various levels ages can appreciate. Whether you're looking for a dependable trail companion or a horse that transitions seamlessly into arena work, Joe is ready to fit the role.
Joe's exceptional trail experience speaks for itself. Alongside his previous owner, a gentleman well into his 80s, Joe was enrolled in the AQHA Horseback Riding Program, where they logged several hundred miles riding through multiple states. Those miles created the seasoned, dependable horse he is today. On the trail, Joe is honest and confident, willingly crossing water, traveling through deep mud, stepping over downfall, navigating rocky and uneven terrain, and handling steep inclines with ease. He happily cruises along on a loose rein, is traffic safe, and is just as content riding with a group as he is heading out alone to explore the countryside.
My tiny redheaded riding partner, Adley, is just 7 years old and weighs around 40 pounds. She has confidently ridden Joe independently on the trail, walked, trotted, and cantered him in the arena, and even ridden him across open pastures to help gather cattle. Joe has never been in a hurry, he stays at the pace his rider asks, remains willing, and quietly does his job without fuss, giving riders the confidence to simply enjoy the ride.
In the arena, Joe is just as enjoyable. He travels both directions on the correct lead, has smooth upward and downward transitions, a comfortable jog, a rocking chair canter, a dependable stop, and rides easily off a one handed neck rein. He is uncomplicated, comfortable, and a pleasure to ride whether you're polishing your horsemanship or simply enjoying a relaxing ride.
Joe is equally easy to own. He settles into new environments without issue, handles time off well, is easy to catch, and can be stalled or happily live outside. He turns out well with other horses and sits lower in the pecking order, making him an easy addition to most herds.
When it's time to hit the trail, Joe is always the one I reach for. From the first mile to the last, I know it's going to be a good day. He is the kind of horse that gives you confidence, makes every ride enjoyable, and reminds you why you love spending time in the saddle.
