Introducing Hatchet

Calm, Steady, and Trustworthy are the words I use to describe Hatchet. If you watch the video, you’ll quickly understand why. At 5 years old and standing slightly over 15.0 hands tall, this stunning palomino gelding is the complete package. His pedigree is full of AQHA champions and money earners; top side is rope horse bred, and bottom side is cutting horse bred which makes an incredibly versatile horse with structure and brains. He's gorgeous with his snow-white mane and tail and just the right amount of dappling. Beyond his color, his confirmation speaks for itself, flawless. But what really sets him apart from others is his calm, steady and trustworthy personality. He was born and raised on my ranch, and he’s been my go-to horse since he was 2-years-old. He has hundreds upon hundreds of hours of training. I rode him 5 days a week for the past 3 years giving him invaluable life experiences with my end goal being an exceptionally well-rounded horse. If you are between the ages of 8 and 80 years old, he’ll suit you well.

He really is a one in a million horse. He'll lope all day on a loose rein, has exception power steering, and a good stop. He practically loads and ties himself in the trailer, backs out beautifully, saddles without a care, takes the bridle/bit without a fuss, great with his feet, great with fly spray, etc……He’s just an exceptional horse that has been handled correctly his entire life and it shows. In the video you’ll notice how I ride with loose reins. He will stay at whatever cadence you put him into. You want to walk, he’ll walk all day, you want to trot, he’ll trot all day, and his lope is like sitting in your favorite rocking chair. Slow, smooth, and steady on a loose rein.

He rides equally well alone or in a group. When in a group, he doesn’t care if he’s in the lead or the last one following. He never gets anxious to speed up if others take off running down the trail. He’ll patiently wait for your que if you want to go faster, if not he’ll keep his steady pace with no drama or excitement.

He’s great at ponying yearlings down the trail (as seen in video) and for starting 2-year-old colts. He is a steady rock, the way a gelding is supposed to be.
He’s been on many overnight camp trips and of course he rides wonderfully and he highlines perfectly.
He’s been pastured with mares, babies, and geldings. He gets along with everyone, not a mean bone in him. Even when pastured with mares that are in heat, he pays them no attention.
He is 100% heathy, sound, and sane. No maintenance issues, no bad habits.

If you are in the market for that one special, once in a lifetime partner, then take a good look because they don’t come along like him very often.
