Atticus is a 5 year old Percheron/Friesian x Quarter Horse gelding standing 16.1 hands high. Not only is he show stopping beautiful, he is one of the most well rounded and educated draft crosses you’ll ever meet. His training has been thoughtful, and his experience is real world on the ranch. Under English tack, you can put together a dressage test beautifully, jump around the cross country field, or enjoy a hunter pace. Under western tack, Atticus has worked in the feed lot, and is used in all aspects of ranch work; from early morning shippings to gathering and doctoring cattle on pasture. He is the perfect horse for the rider who values a relationship with their partner. Together you can truly do a bit of everything and do it well.

In the arena, Atticus will do any job that’s asked of him. He has three extremely smooth gaits that are adjustable and comfortable. He has great transitions, stops, and an easy turnaround. Atticus is just an all around easy horse to ride and enjoy. He moves well off leg pressure, has an easy neck rein, and is seamless between disciplines. In English tack; he will ride on a loose rein or in the bridle, schools first level tests, and has nice leg yields, side passes, and pivots. Under western tack, Atticus is one handed, rides correctly, and lopes balanced circles.

Outside of the arena, Atticus has tons of miles on the ranch. He has done all the jobs, knows his way around a rope, and is an expert in the feed lot. He’s been hauled all over to go to various clinics, cross country schooling, and lessons. In new places he takes everything in and has never put a foot wrong. He is safe in traffic, along busy roads, and in town. He is great to travel with, easy to load, and a gentleman on the trailer.

In the barn, Atticus’s ideal partner is someone who enjoys not just riding – but having a relationship with their horse on the ground too. He appreciates a gentle and kind person who values a bond with their horse. Atticus is always the first to greet us and loves reaching his nose out of the stall to nuzzle the kids. He’s a good boy for all of the usual barn tasks; grooming, bathing, clipping, and more.
