With a heavy heart, I am offering my Hanoverian gelding, First Romance H. ("Romi"), as a companion horse to the best possible new home.

Romi was born on February 29, 2019. He is a dark chestnut, approximately 17.1 hh tall, and an absolute favorite in handling. He is very people-oriented, friendly, well-behaved, and gets along well with other horses.

I acquired him at three years old and have trained him independently. This year, he competed in two shows. He is my heart horse, making this decision all the more difficult.

Unfortunately, Romi has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis affecting his second to seventh cervical vertebrae. Following veterinary advice, he underwent surgery. However, he subsequently developed ataxia. According to the veterinarian, he is no longer suitable for riding and will not be a riding horse anymore.

Romi is pain-free, lively, and enjoys movement. Movement is important to him—just without a rider. Groundwork, walks, grooming, and social contact are still possible.

So far, Romi has been kept in a box stall, which he handles very well and is very manageable. Since he is very social and compatible with other horses, I believe transitioning to an open stable or a paddock with plenty of turnout would be feasible.

Currently, I am in training as a professional horse keeper and am housed in a sport stable, so I am unfortunately unable to provide the species-appropriate environment he deserves.

⚜️ Desired home:
- Open stall or very extensive turnout
- Alternatively, box stall at night with lots of outdoor time during the day
- No pure box stall housing
- Calm, loving people who will appreciate him as a companion horse

Romi is not offered as a riding horse. It is very important to me that he finds a permanent home where he is loved and well cared for.
