“Cloud” is a 17.0hh, 5 year old American Spotted Draft horse. He’s handsome, loving, and a joy to ride. From the moment you lay eyes on him, you will understand how special he is. You will gain confidence with having a steady and dependable partner. He’s a real steady-eddy type - not spooky and takes everything in stride. With Cloud’s size and easygoing temperament, he can be enjoyed by riders of all ages and levels of experience. Whatever job you ask of him, he always does it willingly and sensibly. Cloud is smooth and comfortable to ride. He is more woah than go but has all the buttons to pick up the pace when asked. He is very balanced and uphill, so you can ride along for hours comfortably. He is a true confidence builder, good for newer or nervous riders. He also is stunning to look at, with feathered feet and flashy paint coloring. He turns heads wherever he goes. Cloud has been ridden English, Western, bareback, and double, and he is game for anything, anytime.
Cloud is very seasoned on the trails, in the ring, and out on the town. He is calm and levelheaded no matter the situation. He has crossed bridges, waded through creeks, traversed logs and ditches, and passed cars on the road, all without hesitation and with a confident attitude. We live next to a gun range and train tracks, so he is desensitized to those noises. He’s been a steady trail partner for riders of all experience levels. He rides out alone or with others. He’s also taught beginner lunge line lessons and carried experienced riders around for dressage lessons. He is the kind of horse you can pull out anytime, put anyone on, and have a blast and feel comfortable with him. He is fully acclimated to the hustle and bustle of a busy farm with heavy equipment, dogs, children, small animals, and traffic around him. Cloud does not mind toy wagons, balloons, flags, or ropes. He is up for any adventure, whether you want to foxhunt, event, take lessons, trail ride, event, show, or just hang out at home. He is patient with new riders and adapts to help his rider advance. He can help you safely reach your goals as a rider.
Cloud rides both English and Western, and is responsive to leg, seat, and voice cues. His foundation is rock-solid: knows all his cues, always picks up the correct lead, and knows lateral movements. He has three smooth, adjustable gaits and jumps over fillers and natural obstacles. He has a soft mouth and consistently offers a pleasant disposition. He is good for kids, beginners, husbands, etc. Cloud is the same horse whether you ride him every day or once a week. He does not need a strict program. What makes him a standout is his patience and dependability. Cloud could go in absolutely any direction - from a fancy trail horse to a mounted patrol horse, therapy horse, ranch partner, fox hunter or hill topper, or dressage mount.
On the ground, Cloud is very sweet and cuddly. Never pushy but enjoys attention and wants to be with you. He loves getting brushed, having his hair braided, and being told how handsome he is. He would probably come in your house and watch a movie with you if he could. He partakes in family trail rides, family snow day adventures, and trips into town.
Cloud is also exceptionally well behaved around the barn. He is stands for the vet and farrier. He picks up all four feet with ease and is good for bathing, clipping, and all the barn activities. He stands quietly in cross ties until you are ready to ride. He happily lives in or out. He loads and hauls exceptionally well and is sensible in new environments (see him walking through Tractor Supply). No maintenance or supplements. He’s an easygoing and low-maintenance kind of guy.
